All four of my wisdom teeth were removed yesterday and everything went fine, no pain today! However, my cheeks are swelled up enormously, I know that this is normal for my doctor explained that this was normal and that they would swell down in a few days. But my question is why do the cheeks swell up after the wisdom teeth are removed?
When you have your wisdom teeth removed, the surgery damages tissue in your gums, jaw, and cheeks. The swelling is just fluid (blood and such). It’s the same thing that happens when you sprain an ankle and it swells–fluid goes to an injury.
