    I love your video, but don’t you think its kinda unfair to have type 1 diabetics which is only 5% of the diabetic population looked down on by friends,people and by the media due to the similar name associated with “type 2 diabetes”. I really think they should change the name of “type 1 diabetes” to a completely different name, in order to help get more funding to this specific form of diabetes which does not even have a cure yet….

    BTW, I obviously have Type 1 diabetes. My daughter has had Type 1 diabetes since she was six, my father has Type 1, and his mother had Type 1.

    Embrace it… You may lose some of the battles, just make sure you don’t lose the war.

    Let me tell you this in closing, diabetes regrets the day it hitched a ride on this human being.

    Take care…

    Diabetes is NOT a death sentence, nor is it something to let consume you. Type 1 diabetics are living longer lives, and even healthier lives then their non-diabetic counterparts.

    Please don’t pity people with Type 1. It’s up to you, do YOU have diabetes, or does diabetes have you?

    Peace…

    @mynx289

    Exactly.

    If you have Type 1, your diet is NOT limited. A Type 1 can eat anything, we just suffer the ills any non-diabetic would. Like weight gain, etc.

    i have type one diabetes. im twelve, and i cant eat my own birthday cake. i watch my friends eat it as i wait for my mom to bring me a tiny peice of a sugarfree substitute she made. it never tasted as good as cake. when i eat sugar, i get horrendous stomach aches because my body just doesnt remember how to digest sugar anymore.

    OLIVIA we are so proud of you. You are a beautiful young lady…..Auntie Susie

    I love this video except for the part about the birthday cake. A person with Type 1 Diabetes CAN have birthday cake, and ice cream, and candy, etc. The food police are bad enough without an organization as big as this adding fuel to the fire. Other than that, it was fabulous and touching. The father in the beginning brought tears to my eyes as that could have been every parent of a child with diabetes, including myself. I have spoken those words many times.

    Beautiful video, very creative and you spoke the feelings of every parent with a child who deals with this disease. Thanks for making this (our video is called Blake’s Battle). We’ll be walking in PA this year.
