A Prozac diary for family members to read?

I was searching for hopeful stories from those who have been on Prozac and would like to share their story. A member of my family is on their 2nd week of Prozac (20 mg daily). I have not noticed any major changes but keeping a close eye in case there is a side effect. It was a long road for them to even consider medication and in combination with speaking to a therapist — I remain positive but needed some reassurance.

I have seen Prozac literally save lives. It may take up to a couple of months before the effects really take hold. Someone is about to have a great burden lifted :)

Give it 3 months. It took 3 months for SSRIs to fully work in me, and I guess that’s about average.

Prozac has been truly a wonder drug for me
!! I have taken it for a number of years & the one time I had to taper off it to have a trial on Wellbutrin (Which was not successful), it took a couple weeks, then one day I realized all the color was gone from my life, leaving everything grey. This was the reason I had first statrted using Prozac & it was very frightening. However, in another way it was encouraging, because it was clear that the drug was doing its job. I expect to stay on it indefinitely. Be patient–it does take a few weeks to start having any effect. For me it isn’t so much that everything is now wonderful, but I can get out of bed & face the day. I can deal with the ups & downs of life without being overwhelmed. There are still good & bad days, but overall my life is much much better on the drug. I wish you patience & good luck!!
